One of the oldest whisky blending companies around, famous for their long association with Richard “The Nose” Paterson. Since 1844, they have been producing blended whiskies of consistent quality. This particular bottle is their core expression, which has states it has been “triple matured”. This refers to the three separate maturation processes, as opposed to three different cask types, with single malts initially matured in individual casks, then blended and matured in sherry casks, before being mixed again with grain whiskies and re-casked for another layer of maturity. The result is a tremendously complex whisky, with clean grain flavours balancing nicely against aged sherry notes of leather and dried fruit. Richard Paterson is again responsible for one of the best blended whiskies around!
