An intriguing blended rum from the Ultimatum bottling company.

This is a blend of spirit from Jamaica and Guyana, that has been aged initially in a former Bourbon barrel for 8 years. The rum then spent a finishing period in a sherry-whisky hogshead from the now sadly closed Imperial distillery (which is increasingly becoming something of a cult malt) for three years. It was bottled in February of 2020.

The result is a rather interesting rum, with plenty of funky Jamaica character, accompanied by heavy Guyanese depth. This blend of spirit is enhanced by notes from the sherry-whisky cask. The final product deliver flavours of funky banana, pineapple, mango, slight malt, waxy whisky notes, dark oak, soft sherry and red fruits, brown sugar, grassy cane, and mixed sherried spice.

A rum that is as fascinating as it is delicious, you won’t encounter many in this mould. The spirit was bottled at 48.5% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration.
