Following an initial maturation in traditional bourbon casks, this whisky is then matured for a finishing period in barrels, or so called “barriques”, which previously held fine Sauternes wine from the Chateau Suduiraut, a Premier Cru Classé. A barrique normally holds 225 liters, hence this whisky’s name.
