An English single malt from The Lakes Distillery, based in Cumbria’s famous Lake District.
The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series presents the distillery’s spirit following a maturation in wine and sherry casks. For this first release, the spirit has been aged in a combination of red wine, and Pedro Ximénez sherry of American, French and Spanish oak.
The result is a luscious, intense dram with notes of powerful vanilla, dark chocolate, grapes, raspberry, cherries, strawberry, bright oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, youthful malt, prunes, dried figs, toffee, dark oak, orange and ginger.
Bottled at a huge cask strength of 60.6% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a powerful, satisfying whisky.
Only 5,922 bottles were produced.
