A fascinating blended whisky from English distillery The Lakes.
This dram has been finished in first-fill American oak casks that have been seasoned with Vino de Naranja, a Spanish style of sweet wine flavoured with orange peels and aged in a solera system. The wine is made exclusively in Heulva, Andalusia, in the south of Spain. Produced in very small quantities, the wine is rather rare, and it is very unusual to see a whisky matured in Orange wine casks.
The result is a wonderfully flavoursome whisky that serves up notes of caramelised orange peel, subtle peat smoke, pineapple, mango, orange juice, marmalade, lychee, tobacco, lemon, oak, peaches, grapes and brown sugar.
The whisky is bottled at 46.6% ABV and without chill filtration or artificial colouration.
A rare citrussy treat.
