A extraordinary bottling that recalls the storied history of port wine.
This distinctive bladder or “flat chestnut” shaped bottle is designed to resemble the style of bottles used in continental Europe and Britain during the 18th century. The bottles typically held more wine than the cylinder shaped bottles that followed them, and the onion shaped bottles that preceded them. The bottle also bears the 4xx merchant mark, a unique emblem that has been used by Taylor’s since their establishment in 1692.
This bottling is a blend is made using specially selected aged Tawny ports from Taylor’s deep reserves. The result is a complex and deep port, with flavours of cigar smoke, cedarwood, tannins, dried fruits, toasted spice, almonds, leather, old oak, butterscotch, fig, red wine and syrupy plums.
A Tawny Port of a rare quality, this is the perfect “special occasion” after dinner drop!
