An excellent single malt whisky from Melbourne’s Starward distillery.

This whisky has been aged in Australian red wine French oak barrels, some of which have been charred before welcoming the spirit. The barrels come from the Barossa Valley in South Australia, and Victoria’s Yarra Valley (found reasonably close to Starward HQ).

The final product? An Aussie dram rich in notes of vanilla, apricot, plums, raspberry jam, pineapple, sweet blackcurrants and blackberries, sultanas, rye, cherries, ginger, black pepper and subtle leathery oak.

An excellent introduction to this impressive distillery’s wares.
