A great whisky from this Swiss distillery. Nestled in the Swiss alps, the Locher Brewery have been owned and managed by the Locher family for five generations, creating their fabulous drinks for over 100 years. This whisky is made from barley grown high in the Swiss alps, and with water sourced from the mountains. The altitude, alongside the extreme weather and tempature found at these heights, produces a barley which is resilient and flavoursome. This whisky has been aged for 4 years: two years in former beer barrels, and two years in wine casks: a mixture of sherry, port and merlot. On the nose aromas of orchard fruits, hoppy beer, roasted nuts, sweet wine and toffee malt arise. The palate is sweet and buttery, with ginger spice, toasted almonds and coconut, vanilla, buttery oak, red berries, milk chocolate, sweet wine and some pepper spice. The finish is medium in length with drying oak and a little honeysuckle. The name comes from one of the nearby mountains! A delicious, complex and juicy single malt whisky!
