A rum from the Dominican Republic produced by Summum.

This rum has been made the pure juice of the sugar cane, in the Agricole style, but to the “methods of Spanish style molasses rum”.

The spirit has been aged for 12 years in former Bourbon barrels, before a finishing period in malt whiskies casks from the Ben Nevis distillery.

The result is a fragrant and complex rum, with notes of pressed flowers, grassy cane, malty biscuit, mango, coconut, bananas, burnt brown sugar, pineapple, soft spice, oak, vanilla, tobacco and gentle leather.

Bottled at 43% ABV for a little more body and warmth, this is a interesting and well balanced rum.
