One of the world’s best value rums, Ron Abuelo Anejo is produced by Varela Hermanos SA, a company with a history nearly as long as Panama itself. The distillery was founded when Don José Varela built a sugar mill. It is one of few distilleries to grow and mill their own sugar cane. This rum is extremely popular in South America and beyond, marking the sweet point between price and quality. On the nose this offer classic dark rum notes of oak, brown sugar and toffee. The palate is fairly thick, with a little dark liquorice, toffee, sweet toffee, treacle and oak. The finish is short and sweet, with a few dried fruit flavours lingering. A great option for daily drinking, or for use in cocktails.
