A fascinating 10 year old rum from an interesting source.

Naga rum is produced in Indonesia, on the famous island of Java.

Indonesian rum actually has a longer history than you might think – which makes sense, Indonesia is the original home of the sugarcane plant. Batavian Arrack is the historic rum of the country, typified by its addition of fermented red rice.

This bottling is made from molasses and has been aged in wood casks for 10 years – likely ex-Bourbon, with some possible use of local Indonesian teak.

The final product is a nutty, fruity rum, with notes of tobacco leaf, oak, pineapple, rich molasses, caramelised apples, cinnamon and nutmeg.

A fascinating rum, just as good as those from the Caribbean.
