A high quality small batch blended malt from Billy Walker’s GlenAllachie Company.

Taking its name from the Victorian expression of good will “Long may your lum reek”, meaning “long may your chimney smoke”, the bottling is also inspired by Harvey McNair, a distiller and traveller from the 19th century, who created the original Lum Reek blend. McNair apparently got the idea for his whisky after drinking a dram in a bothy with a blocked chimney, which had “a marvelous effect on the whisky in my glass” according the man himself.

The 21st century recreation uses a mixture of Speyside, Islay and GlenAllachie whiskies to produce a sumptuous, peaty dram. The whisky is matured in first-fill Bourbon, red wine, and Oloroso sherry casks, virgin oak, imparting plenty of maturity to the spirit.

The dram opens with a thick, pungent peat and slight ashiness, accompanied by some citrus rind, chocolate, dried fruit, sweet wine, honey, bright oak, charred wood, and bursting berries.

Bottled at 46% ABV, without colouration or chill filtration, the dram is presented in all its peaty glory.
