A fascinating bottling from the ever versatile Loch Lomond distillery.
Loch Lomond is found just inside the Highland region, and is one of very few distilleries that produces both a single malt and a single grain whisky, which allows them to create a “single blend” whisky – that is, a blend of grain and malt whiskies produced and bottled by one distillery.
Even more unusual, this whisky is 100% organic, using nothing but organically grown barley and grain. The whisky has been aged for 12 years, giving it a nice level of maturity.
This dram serves up notes of apples, vanilla, cedarwood, slight pepper, peaches, apricots, cream, mango, chocolate and warm malt.
The bottling is presented at a punchy 46% ABV, giving it plenty of body and warmth.
An inventive, interesting and delicious whisky.
