First launched in 2015, this distillery bottling of 18 year old Ledaig presents a distinctive and complex whisky. This whisky is released periodically, in a limited batch.
Ledaig is the name given to Tobermory Distillery’s peated whisky, having been the original name of the Mull-based distillery.
After 18 years of maturation, this bottling was treated to a sherry wood finish, producing a whisky of lovely complexity. The dram opens with notes of soft, earthy peat smoke, soon followed by ginger, iodine, oily nuts, dried fruits, sea spray, dark chocolate, smoked paprika, burnt herbs, grassy malt, cured meat, peppery wood smoke, and lemon rind.
Sharp and complex, somewhat approaching a Campbeltown whisky at times, Ledaig 18 benefits from being bottled at 46.3% ABV and without chill filtration.
