A lovely sherried dram from the recently established Kingsbarns distillery, in the Lowland region of Scotland.

This whisky has been made using barley found local to the distillery’s home in Fife.

The spirit has been aged exclusively in ex-sherry American oak butts, producing a typically light Lowland with a good lick of sherried complexity.

Balcomie, which takes its name from a local castle, serves up notes of warm sweet malt, vanilla, cinnamon and raisin toast, dark chocolate, shaved oak, nuts and marmalade.

An excellent expression from this distillery – and a good sign of things to come!
