A very interesting blended malt whisky from Japan.
This bottling contains whiskies from around the world, including Scotland. After initial maturation in oak casks, the whisky is finished in yoshino-sugi casks. Yoshino-sugi is also known as Japanese cedar, and is a highly aromatic kind of wood. This whisky is said to be the very first of any kind to enjoy a Japanese cedar wood finish.
The result is a highly fragrant and perfumed whisky, with notes of lavender, incense, wood tannins, oak, sandalwood, orange blossom, vanilla, pine, slight earth, cloves, tea, curry spices and floral honey.
Extremely aromatic, this whisky has some unique cedar wood notes that you are unlikely to have encountered in any other dram. A rather fascinating offering.
The spirit is bottled at a warming 48% ABV.
