J.P. Wiser’s holds the illustrious title of being Canada’s oldest whisky still on the market today, and continuously produced since 1857. This rye whisky bottling is a relatively recent addition to the Wiser line-up, added in 2013.
A classic Canadian rye, this is packed with cereal-sweetness, and warming rye spices.
Drinkers should expect a slightly tannic notes of leather, charred oak and toffee, alongside some woody coffee, dark sugar and bright rye spices of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Less grassy than many ryes.
A thoroughly enjoyable dram, particularly at this superb price point – this is a great introduction to the growing world of Canadian whiskies.
