An excellent addition to Johnnie Walker’s Black Label Origin range.
Unlike the other bottles in this range, this is a blended whisky, rather than a blended malt. The blend is made entirely with whiskies from the Lowlands region, including high quality malt whisky from Glenkinchie, and grain whisky from Cameronbridge distillery.
There’s no tricks or fancy finishes here – the spirit is simply aged for 12 years in former Bourbon American oak barrels before being bottled, allowing the soft, creamy and floral Lowland whiskies to shine through.
A noticeably less smoky rendition of the Black Label style, this dram offers up light flavours of pressed flowers, toffee, vanilla, oak spice, a little chilli, toasted malt, white chocolate and cereal sweetness.
Bottled at 42% for a touch more body, this is a wonderful reimagining of one of Scotch whisky’s most iconic bottlings.
