A super-premium release from the most northerly distillery in Scotland, Highland Park! This incredible whisky forms part of the highly rated Warriors Series, a travel retail exclusive (thankfully we managed to get our hands on a few bottles).

This whisky is named after one of the famous Viking Earls of Orkeny, Thorfinn the Mighty, who ruled from around 1016 to 1065, and commanded large areas beyond just the northerly isles. With such a name, the whisky has a lot to live up.

Yet this is a dram befitting of the title Thorfinn: a bold and complex whisky, powerfully flavoured and chewy. This single malt has been aged in sherry seasoned European oak butts, resulting in a whisky that is rich in sherried dried fruits, baking spices, toffee, ginger, barrel char and sweet wine flavours. These accompany the slight smoke and maritime nature of Highland Park’s spirit.

The whisky is bottled at a slightly higher proof of 45.1% ABV, allowing these flavours to really take hold. No additional colour was used when making this whisky, with the colour coming from the cask alone.

The whisky is as bold in packaging as it is in flavour, with a black bottle embossed with the distillery’s golden logo and a featuring Viking-style helmet. Each bottle also comes with their own, darkly coloured gift box, making this the complete-product.
