Heaven’s Door Tennessee Straight Rye has been produced by legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan with the support of Marc Bushala, the founder of Angel’s Envy. The brand takes its name from Dylan’s 1973 hit ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’.
The spirit is produced in a Tennessee church. After initial maturation in new American oak casks, the whiskey has been finished in toasted oak cigar barrels – so called because they resemble cigars in shape, not because they are flavoured with them. The casks have been naturally air-dried in the Vosges region of France.
The final result is sophisticated and spicy whiskey with notes of rye bread, chopped mint, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, pepper, vanilla, bananas, toffee, dark chocolate, salt, creamy honey, leather, citrus rind, oak and sweet grain.
A fascinating bottling that demonstrates the potential of cask finished rye whiskey.
