A delectable Bourbon produced by the one and only Bob Dylan and Marc Bushala (the founder of Angel’s Envy Bourbon).
It’s a common misconception that to be considered a Bourbon, a whiskey must be produced in the spirit’s heartland of Kentucky. This is not the case, a Bourbon need only be produced in the USA, be made from a mash bill of 51% corn and be aged in new, charred American oak barrels. The spirit must be bottled below 80% and above 40% (as with other whiskies). Indeed, these days there are a great many top quality Bourbons being produced outside the borders of the bluegrass state.
This bottling has been made in a former church in Tennessee, with a unique mash bill featuring 30% “small grains” (rye and malted barley) and 70% corn. The bottling has been aged for a minimum of 8 years in new American oak barrels, producing a deeply flavoured and complex Bourbon.
The result is a dram that serves up notes of sandalwood, bright red berries, rye spice, deep vanilla, cornbread, oats, cinnamon, apples, charred oak, toffee, caramelised peanuts, chocolate and fresh pastry. The bourbon enjoys a little extra warmth and body from being bottled at 45% ABV.
A terrific whiskey, given a five star “Highest Recommendation” from legendary spirits write F. Paul Pacult.
