A bottled-in-bond edition of Evan Williams’ famous White Label Bourbon. For those unfamiliar with the term, Bottled-in-Bond was first introduced at the end of the 19th century to help restore consumer confidence in American whiskey after it was found that many producers were adulterating their spirits with sometimes poisonous additives. These days the term is used more to quickly indicate quality, with the spirit legally required to be the product of one distilling season (either January to June, or July to December), have aged for at least four years in a government bonded warehouse, and bottled at no less than 50% ABV (100 proof). Where the whiskey was produced (and if different, bottled) must be shown on the label. Drinkers still welcome this higher proof, provenance indication and distilling season (which means that each bottle is essentially a vintage Bourbon). Evan Williams classic Bourbon gets a huge flavour boost from being Bottled-in-Bond, with the corn sweetness, barrel char and spice getting a kick with the extra proof. Lovers of Evan Williams will certainly enjoy this one, and it should be a bottle familiar to every Bourbon drinker out there.
