The Bunnahabhain distillery on Islay makes both lightly peated and heavily peated whiskies. This bottling from the independent bottler, The Ultimate Whisky Company, bears the word “Moine” (“peat” in Gaelic), which signifies that it is of the heavily peated veriety. Despite its very light appearance, this whisky was aged in an ex-sherry cask. Though, this sherry cask was likely used many times before, so a traditional sherry influence should not be expected – rather, you will get something closer to “naked”, heavily peated Bunnahabhain spirit.
