Now here’s a treat, an independently bottled Ballechin from The Ultimate Whisky Company!
Ballechin is the name given to peated whisky from the Edradour distillery, which is one of Scotland’s smallest. This particular bottling has been aged in a 2nd fill Sherry Butt for 11 years, having been distilled on the 13th of April 2007, and bottled on the 5th of April 2019 (just a few days short of its 12 birthday).
The bottling offers up waves of earthy peat smoke, followed by dense flavours of dark chocolate, dried fruits, toasted nuts, chilli spice, cinnamon, apples, nutmeg, dark oak, vanilla, slight ash, figs and plums.
Weighing in a scorching cask strength of 59.5% ABV, this is an aggressive, meaty peated whisky. The spirit is also presented free from chill filtration or colouration.
Sweet and smokey, just the way we like ‘em!
Just 691 bottles were produced.
