Another delicious addition to Ballechin’s (and Edradour’s) long running Straight From The Cask series.
This dram was distilled back in September 2009, and bottled in November 2019, having aged for a full decade in a single Bourbon cask.
Ballechin is of course the name given to Highland distillery Edradour’s peated spirit, so drinkers should expect plenty of lip smacking peat smoke in this dram.
The whisky offers up notes of rich, sweet Bourbon cask character, with flavours and aromas of green apple, cinnamon, cherries, sweet vanilla and bright oak. Peat is also aggressive, and rather grassy, but balanced nicely by the sweet cask.
A lovely dram, bottled at a powerful 58.4% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration. Just 350 bottles were produced.
