A mid-range bottling from Highland distillery Balblair.
In early 2019, the distillery swapped out the vintages for which they had become so well known and introduced the more standard age statements found across the industry.
This particular bottling has been aged initially in former Bourbon American oak casks, before being finished for a time in first fill Spanish oak butts, giving a final age of 15 years.
The final result is a fully flavoured, rich and fruity dram that offers up notes of coffee, toasted nuts, malty bread, apples, sultanas, prunes, figs, dark chocolate, ginger, orange rind, dates, apples and sherried oak.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a rich, satisfying dram.
