A wonderful bottling from this relatively new distillery, this whisky pairs Arran’s classic island and coastal style with the sweetness of Madeira. Arran first matured their spirit in traditional ex-bourbon barrels, before moving it for a finishing period in Madeira sweet wine casks. Bottled at 50%, and without chill filtration, this is a welcome addition to Arran’s range of cask finish single malts. The nose brings rich sweet flavours of teacake and raisins, with hints of sea spray and tangerines. On the palate, the distillery’s oily mouthfeel comes across well, joined by jammy, sweet orange notes and vanilla custard. A sweet treat, and a delicious dram!
