Peated whisky from Arran, bottled at cask strength, what’s not to like?
Previously this has been an annual release, but such is the enormous popularity of this bottling that Arran have decided to add it to their standard range.
This whisky is named after the mystical peat bog, which is to be found on the distillery’s western side. The dog featured on the label is Bran, the faithful hound of warrior giant Fingal, who supposedly tied Bran to the standing stones found on the Moor.
A coastal and smoky dram, the whisky opens with notes of charcoal, brine and citrus peel, soon followed by some flavours of stone fruit, smoked malt, a little mango, chocolate and vanilla.
Bottled at a hefty Cask Strength of 58.2% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, Arran Machrie Moor offers full flavour and body.
