Ailsa Bay’s Release 1.2 features a redesigned bottle, and a slightly reformulated whisky!

Sweet Smoke is a fitting name for this dram – which is both sweeter and smokier than its previous iteration. The whisky boasts 22 ppm of phenols, and 19 ppm of “sweetness”.

This dram has been aged in smaller Bourbon casks for the first six to nine months of its maturation, before a longer maturation in traditional refill casks for several years.

Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke serves up notes of thick vanilla custard, flowers, heather honey, orchard fruits, deep toasted oak, phenolic drying peat, sweet marmalade and toffee.

Bottled at 48.9% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a rather thick and satisfying dram.
