Part of a pair of mystery single malt whiskies released by William Grant, owners of Glenfiddich and Balvenie.
The whisky is produced at Lowland distillery, Ailsa Bay. This bottling has not been aged by the sea, as the sea cask has, but rather has been aged far inland, so that there is no hint of brine in the final product. The spirit has been made using Highland peat, however, imparting a delightful smokiness to the final product. Aged for 10 years, this dram has a good level of maturity.
The result is a rich, powerful dram with notes of tarred ropes, vanilla, burnt oak, ash, bonfire, tobacco, citrus rind, pineapple, apples and cereal sweetness.
A great value smoky daily drinker, and a perfect companion to the Sea Cask offering.
Wonderful, especially at the price. As good as an expensive malt
