A big bottle of Absolut’s super premium Elyx vodka.
This spirit begins with winter wheat grown on the Råbelöf estate in southern Sweden. This estate has been used for wheat farming since at least the 15th century. Råbelöf is auspiciously placed for the growth of wheat, with the estate situated in a microclimate which enjoys dry, cold winters, and long warm summers.
After careful mashing and fermentation, the spirit is distilled in a copper column still which dates back to 1921. Absolute use thousands copper “packets”, a costly practice which involves the packets being placed in the still to remove impurities from the spirit and being discarded. The still is manually operated in the time-honoured tradition.
The result is a magnificent vodka with a beautiful, silky mouthfeel. Expect all the purity of the standard Absolut, but with subtle notes of bready wheat, spice, vanilla, caramel and grassy malt.
This spirit adds a certain body and quality to cocktails, but is beautiful served simply over ice.
Elyx is presented in a handsome decanter style bottle created by esteemed London designers Stranger and Stranger (the same folk behind Compass Box’s visionary labels). The bottle is made from 40% recycled glass, and emphasises the importance of copper in the creation of this vodka.
