A tasty little Bourbon from Wild Turkey, with quite the Hollywood backstory.
Longbranch was created through a collaboration between creative director Matthew McConaughey, he of True Detective and Interstellar fame, and the Wild Turkey’s master distiller, Eddie Russell.
The bottling uses a base of 8 year old Wild Turkey, and then, in a nod to McConaughey and Russell’s home states, filters the spirit through charcoal made with Kentucky White Oak and Texas Mesquite (which likely means that it isn’t officially a Bourbon, if we’re being pedantic).
The final result is a superb whiskey, that offers up notes of caramel, smoked oak, apple, citrus rind, black pepper, buttered corn, bright vanilla, honey, cream, red apples and cinnamon spice.
Longbranch benefits from a slight bump to 43% ABV.
Both McConaughey and Eddie Russell’s signatures feature on the bottles label.
