A big old litre bottling of White Horse Gold Edition. This was a travel retail exclusive originally launched toe celebrate the Chinese New Year in 2014, which was of course, the year of the horse! Happily, a few bottles have made it onto our shelves. A blend of malt and grain whiskies from around Scotland, White Horse is famous for containing a high quantity of Lagavulin in their blend, perhaps one of the most sought-after whiskies in Scotland. A good quantity of Highland and Island malt also goes into this dram. On the nose, this whisky opens with sherried prunes and apricots, with a little orange juice and lemon rind aromas. These are accompanied by a slight salinity, and toasted nut. The palate is oily and creamy, with flavours of shortbread biscuits, sherried fruit, heather honey, salted caramel, lemon zest, orange peel and the faintest wisp of peat. The finish is smokier still, with a little more salt and a lingering ginger spice. Tremendous value for money, particularly in this bigger bottle, if White Horse continue to produce whisky of this quality, every year will be the year of the horse!
The best! I love this drink
