An exciting gin release, produced at a brand new Diageo distillery, Distilleria Santa Vittoria, found in Santa Vittoria, Italy.
This new distillery, which was completed in 2018, includes a refurbished Frilli copper pot still, dating back to the 1970s.
Designed as a super premium gin, the full recipe of locally sourced botanicals that make Villa Ascenti is not known, but we do know that it contains: Moscato grapes, fresh mint and thyme, and Tuscan juniper berries. These ingredients are used alongside other, unknown “traditional gin botanicals”
The final result is a velvety smooth gin, with notes of chopped herbs, and bright juniper, slightly sweet grapes, zesty citrus and a little peppery spice.
A little sweeter than a traditional dry gin, probably due to the grapes in the mix, this is a great option for drinking simply over ice with a few juniper berries for garnish, or mixing into a Dry Martini.
