You’re always hearing about whisky distilleries that have created sherries just to age their spirit in the casks, well, now the roles have reversed. This is a blended malt whisky produced by sherry bodega Valdespino.
One of the oldest sherry producers in the world, Valdespino dates back to 1430. For this bottling, they’ve selected a parcel of the finest malt whiskies from Scotland, and aged them in their very own Palo Cortado and Oloroso sherry casks, at the Valdespino winery.
The final product is a richly sherried dram that offers flavours of dates, raisins, vanilla, cherries, red berries, sweet oak, caramel, oily nuts, dark malt, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and slight fresh herb notes.
Very intriguing and delicious. Not your typical sherried dram (and not technically a Scotch), but a delightful whisky never the less.
