Tobermory are back, following a 2 year hiatus starting in 2017, whilst the distillery was refurbished and repaired.
The distillery, based on the Isle of Mull, is known for its sweet, oily and slightly maritime spirit. This house style is perfectly illustrated with this 12 year old, core range bottling, which has been aged in American oak casks.
The dram serves up notes of pears, apples, slightly tart buttermilk, funky malt, oily walnut, peaches, sawdust, dates, figs in brandy, cinnamon and salted caramel.
Bottled at 46.3% ABV and without chill filtration, this whisky has plenty of body, allowing the naturally unctuous style to really take hold.
Eagle eyed fans of Tobermory will note that this bottling has had a new lick of paint, designed to recall the colours found naturally on the Isle of Mull.
