Forming part of Douglas Laing’s excellent Remarkable Regional Malts series, this limited edition Timorous Beastie 18 year old is just the third whisky in the range to receive an age statement.
The blended malt contains the same selection of Highland whiskies, including Glen Garioch, Glengoyne and Dalmore, just aged a bit longer for greater depth and complexity.
The whisky takes its name from the Robert Burns poem ‘To a Mouse,’ which includes the line “Wee sleekit cowerin’ timorous beastie”! The whisky is nothing of the sort though, a powerful, bold dram, packed with flavour!
Very much a typical Highland whisky, Timorous Beastie 18 offers plenty of malty, biscuity notes, with touches of honey, dried fruit, citrus, vanilla, chocolate, cracked pepper, apricot and cinnamon.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV, and without colouration or chill filtration, the whisky maintains a thick, juicy mouthfeel.
This is a classic Highland blended malt, spicy and delicious.
