Now in an attractive, remodelled package, this is a warming, spicy and historic liqueur produced b London’s famous Berry Bros and Rudd wine and spirits shops.
This expression dates back to 1903, when it was first fashioned for King Edward VII.
The King was known for his love of motoring, and would drive his then-newfangled car for hours on end, in any weather. It got to a point where his doctor became concerned about his health, so contacted Berry Bros to make a liqueur that would help warm and revive the King after long drives.
And so, The King’s Ginger was born - a combination of fresh ginger, citrus oil and alcohol (originally Cognac, but now made with grain spirit, lemon oil, ginger, sugar and a small amount of Scotch whisky).
The end product is a spicy sipper, with notes of rich, oily lemon peel, stem ginger, root ginger beer, pepper and hot spice.
