From the same fine folk behind the excellent Sheep Dip and Pig’s Nose comes The Feathery. This is a blended malt, created entirely from malt whiskies that have been aged in Sherry casks. This whisky celebrates one of Scotland’s favourite pastimes, the game of golf. Before industrial techniques became widely available, gold balls were constructed out of hide, and stuffed with an entire “top hat full” of feathers, and therefore known as “Featheries”.
On the nose, this whisky is pure sherried malt, with waves of dried fruit and spice aromas, accompanied by thick toffee, a little wine and stewed cherries. The palate is rich and thick, with an intense and creamy mouthfeel, joined by warming baking spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Some slight peppered fruit notes round off the palate. The finish is long and lingering with delightful, sweet sherried notes. A top quality blended malt without any shadow of a doubt!
