The English Whisky Co. is based in the small St. George’s Distillery found in Roudham, Norfolk in the East of England. For nearly ten years now, they have been producing English Single Malt of a superior quality. England did have a proud whisky distilling tradition, though this has now nearly been entirely superseded by both Scotland’s wonderful distilleries, and the English gin industry. The distillery only produces about 1,500 litres of alcohol a year, which is tiny by industry standards, therefore bottles are fairly limited. The Original is the wonderful entry level option in this distillery’s range. The Original is produced using local barley, and a subterranean aquifer found under the distillery. Bottling also occurs on site. Each whisky at the distillery is produced without the use of computers, and is bottled without chill filtration or colouring. The Original is a bright, floral and flavoursome whisky, with malty, biscuit notes and a tangy ex-bourbon character. Tremendous stuff.
