This delectable 18 year old was first launched in 2015, as part of the relaunch of this distillery, previously known as MacDuff.
Deveron distillery is found close to the river from which it takes its name, nearby the Highland coast, and quite close to the Speyside border. The distillery is well known for its horizontal shell and tube condensers, which are fitted to the spirit stills. These have the effect of creating a slightly nutty and sulphuric spirit, with quite a thick mouthfeel.
So, it proves with this dram, rich in warm nutty flavours, accompanied by dark oaky chocolate, vanilla caramel, and some classic Highland notes of citrus, dried fruit and spice.
A cut above the 12 year old, this is a wonderful return to form from this distillery.
