An excellent mysterious single malt Islay whisky, from the same folks behind the esteemed Càrn Mòr independent bottlings, Morrison and Mackay.
This whisky is named after Islay’s longest beach, The Big Strand, a perfect white sandy strip which stretches for 7 miles. The whisky itself most likely comes from Caol Ila, the Islay behemoth distillery beloved by independent bottlers.
A peaty and powerful dram, which serves up flavours of salt, sea spray, iodine, charcoal, lemon, vanilla pods, grass, green apples, powdered sugar, green wood, a touch of oak, and some orange rind.
The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration, giving it a somewhat luscious body.
Big flavour from the Big Strand.
