Part of a new range of single grain whiskies produced by the Angus Dundee company, better known for their ownership of Glencadam and Tomintoul. This whisky is made using the Patent Still process, a technique which sees spirit distilled in a continuous fashion, in a column still. This allows for constant production. This grain is made of unmalted wheat for breadiness and body, corn and maize for sweetness, rye for spice, with a small amount of malted barley for depth. The grains are cooked in a steam pressure system, which better extracts the sugar from the cereals, allowing for a sweet and flavoursome final product. On the nose this is a whisky rich in cereal sweetness, floral notes and vanilla, with aromas of honey and maple. The palate is light, and gentle, with a buttery vanilla and some creamy floral flavours. The finish is sort, fleeting and moreish. Perfect for an easy-going dram, or as a base for home blends and cocktails.
