Aside from whisky, the river Spey is known for being one of the great Salmon-fishing spots of the world. Speyburn pay homage to this fact with this wonderful expression, named Bradan Orach, the Scots Gaelic name for Golden Salmon – widely viewed as the best variety of the fish, and most sought after by anglers. Interestingly enough, Speyburn distillery is found in the Highland region, yet is still close to Scotland’s long Spey river. This is a light, approachable dram, with notes of malt, biscuit, warm cereal, toffee and bright oak on the nose. The palate is thick and buttery, with crispy barley, thick caramel, toffee and a gentle vanilla note. The finish is short and sweet, with a punchy butterscotch note. A lovely golden dram which is a perfect reflection of its namesake.
