An interesting release from the Smokehead brand.
For this dram, they’ve taken their mystery Islay single malt, and finished it in rum casks, following an initial maturation in former Bourbon barrels.
The result is a bold, flavoursome single malt that combines the coastal peatiness of Smokehead’s spirit with the fruity, spicy sweetness of the rum casks.
Drinkers can expect notes of crunchy burnt malt, iodine, sea spray, peat, ash, vanilla, pineapple, citrus rind, ripe bananas, mango, honey and pears.
Rum and peat? A winning combo. This dram is bottled at 43% ABV for a touch more body and fire.
Originally bottled for the travel retail market.
