A rum that is fast becoming a “must-have” item in the cocktail bartending world. Smith and Cross have been operating in one form or another since 1788, and can claim to be one of the oldest bottlers of rum in England.
A blend of heavy (Wedderburn) and medium bodied (Plummer) style rums, this is a deeply complex and flavoursome spirit that is as at home in cocktails as it is sipped neat or over a few ice cubes. The Wedderburn spirits have been aged for under a year, whilst the Plummer rum has been aged for up to three, both parts in white oak barrels.
Bottled at a navy strength of 57% ABV (or 100 proof by the old English method), drinkers should expect powerful and deep flavours of tobacco, Christmas spices, dark oak, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, overripe tropical fruits and Jamaican funk.
Both flavour and proof ensure that this is a rum that will not get lost in even the most complex of cocktails.
