A new Singleton, designed to replace the discontinued Singleton of Auchroisk! Dufftown is an integral part of Diageo’s Johnnie Walker blends, and is one of the largest in their portfolio, with a capacity of over 4 million litres of alcohol a year. Historically this distillery has seen very few official bottlings, so this is a rare chance to try a standard release of this lovely, stalwart distillery. This whisky has been aged in a mixture of European and American oak casks, and it represents a classic Speyside style: approachable and drinkable. The nose is malty, nutty and crisp, with aromas of cereal sweetness, toffee, salted caramel, toasted oak, hay and orchard fruits. The palate has a medium body, with citrus rind notes and a grassy freshness. The malty, nutty oakiness of the nose is present again, with a little more nutmeg and cinnamon woodspice. The finish is short and sweet with oak and a few fruity highlights. A classic Speyside, and an ideal daily drinker.
A hidden gem from the Dufftown area. Superior to some of its more famous neighbours in the whisky town
