Another London Dry style gin produced in Spain, Siderit is made in extremely small batches of just 25 litres.
A gin that uses some very interesting botanicals, with one, the spiny Sideritis hyssopifolia (also known as mountain tea) giving its name to the bottling. The other botanicals used are juniper, orange peel, hibiscus, angelica root, coriander, cardamom, pink peppercorn, orris root and almond.
Strangely enough, the gin is distilled in a special column still made entirely out of borosilicate glass, which is resistant to temperature changes.
A peppery, spicy gin with a good floral edge and plenty of intriguing herbal flavours. Bottled at the slightly higher proof of 43% ABV, this gives a little extra power to this gin.
A gin that shows there is still room for experimentation in a crowded market.
