A blended whisky produced by the Arran distillery. Arran was founded in 1995, making it one of Scotland’s newest distilleries. Since this time they have impressed with consistently high quality Single Malt releases. If these bottlings are any guide, their foray into blended whisky should be superb too. Named after Scotland’s national poet, this blend has been endorsed by the World Burns Federation. Based around a core of top-quality malt whisky from the Island distillery, this is an excellent value blend. On the nose aromas of light malt, sharp sweet grain and apples greet the drinker. The palate brings a buttery, light mouthfeel, with vanilla flavours, toffee and a good dose of toasted malt. The finish rounds out with woodspice, honey and foam bananas. One of the best blends of its price range, it is best summarised by the words of Burns himself: “O thou, my muse! guid auld Scotch drink!”
