Another tremendous rum from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados. The company is now in its fourth generation, and is currently operated by the maverick distiller Richard Seale. Seale is known for his refusal to add any additional sugar to his rums, alongside his technological advances in the distillation of rum. Foursquare is based on 8 acres of former sugar plantation. The distillery uses a three column Italian continuous still, which produces a very pure, estery, spirit; alongside a pot still that creates, heavier, denser spirit. This is a classic Bajan rum, aged for 10 years in oak casks, with delicious nutty, tropical notes, alongside a core of sweet sugarcane flavours. A slight salinity is detectable on the finish, a result of maturation in the path of the Caribbean’s sea breezes. One of the most visually striking bottles on the market too.
